WORLD SHOW REPORT 2010 FROM MATOSINHOS - PORTUGAL

By David Allen

Well this year saw the classes for Lizards increased, to increase the classes from 2 to 6.

Gold stam’s [teams of 4 equal birds] single Gold’s, Stam for Silvers and single class for silvers.

Also two classes for Blue lizards were included, as these are recognized but European Lizard association and Com but not by the LCA.

I entered 8 lizards 2 single gold’s 2 single silvers and a stam of gold’s. This was the first time I had entered a stam at the worlds show, this being my

3rd time exhibiting at a World Show.

The first class I came to was the Gold stam class, the gold medal was won by Lisa Massarutto from Italy with a stam of Clear Cap Gold Cocks getting 372 points. All four birds were very even and had nice backs. Silver went to Jules Eteine these birds were again fairly even with good spangles and excellent back’s again a clear cap gold stam. The bronze went toKluas Nagorsky from Germany with 365 points again another stam of clear cap gold cocks. All these birds had really dark legs and feet.

My stam of gold gained 354 points so a little way of the mark but I have learnt from this show what I need to have for a good stam.

Next came the gold singles class, the gold medal went to Alfons Ten broke with a broken cap gold cock gaining an excellent 94 points this bird was outstanding gold cock with excellent spangles and a large amount of breast work for a gold cock. The silver went to Jules Etiene with 93 points for his clear cap gold cock

again a lovely bird with a lovely back. The bronze medal went to Marcel Bronkart with 92 points for his Non cap Gold again a fine example of a quality lizard with usually good size for a Non cap.

My two gold’s gained 87 points a bit off the mark.

The next class was the class of silver stam’s and Lisa did it again taking gold in this class as well with 370 points all four gained 91 points. Lisa won all the stam classes. This was a nice stam with good breast work and spangles a well balanced stam. Silver went Jules Etiene with368 points again a good stam of silver’s.

The Bronze went to Jac Grubbels form Holland with 366 points.

The silver singles class winner was Alfons Tenbroke from Germany with an outstanding Silver hen gaining 93 points. This bird was full of breast work and large dark well defined spangle that were nice and straight, this bird had it all including black feet and legs. This to me was the pick of all the lizards.

Silver went to our old friend again Jules with 92 points this bird had lovely defined dark spangles but not quite a much or as good breast work as the winner, Jules also took bronze in this class as well gaining 91 points, another fine bird bird I felt the cap was slightly unbalanced, but still had good breast work. One point

Most of the birds in this class as in the others all displayed very dark legs and feet. I felt I had my best chance in this class but my two birds only got 88 and 87 points.

This was a very enjoyable show both on the show side and the social side. I meet several lizard fanciers from Europe and lost count Of how many picture I had took with them. { I ‘ll be on crime watch Europe next month] .

I would like to see more UK Lizard breeders show at the world show to show Europe how good our UK Lizards are. I also feel that they should still colour feed there Lizards as this is what it states in the Lizard hand book and description of the lizard in the standard. I also noticed that this year there more colour fed Lizard than before and a few of them were in the medals. So the more colour fed bird are shown the more they will become the norm/

So come on UK Lizard breeders join Team GB and show what the UK have and take all the medal home from France.

2009 WORLD SHOW REPORT

Well 2009 was my second attempt at the World Show which was held in Piacenza in Italy. I had high hopes as 2008 show season had been very succsessful one for me. But as my Lizard were colour fed and most of the contiental are not I knew this would go against me.

Unfortuneatley I didn't win a medal but I achieved 90 points with two of my three entries the third entry gaining 88 points. Which i am very pleased with, it is a improvement on last years. Unfortuneatley I was unable to visit the show this time but I hope to in 2010 when it will be in ~Portugal and this time I hope to improve fiurther a pick-up a medal.

I wouldl like to take this oppertuneaty to thank the IOA for thier transportation and care of my birds during the trip to Italy, my birds are all in good eath and look in good condition.

The top awards in the lixzard section went as follows singles
